Desmond Carr

He matters because… he was part of our family.

He wasn’t just… you know… a name or a story. He was a real person.

He worked hard… he showed up… he was just one of those good, solid people.

And I think that’s what makes it harder — because there was nothing to suggest…

…that he’d just disappear.

He mattered to his sisters… to everyone who knew him.

And even now… all these years later… he still does.

I think… when someone goes missing like that, people can forget that they were someone’s whole world.

But he wasn’t just a missing person — he was Des.

And we still talk about him… we still think about him… we still want answers.

And I guess that’s why he matters… because he’s never just gone for us.

He’s still part of our family… and he always will be.

Deputy State Coroner Sarah Helen Linton officially ruled that Desmond Carr's death has been established beyond all reasonable doubt.  The formal investigation into Desmond Carr's disappearance is concluded, but the case remains an open missing person investigation.  Because Desmond’s remains have never been found, the case cannot be entirely closed by police. If new, credible evidence or information comes to light, investigators will review it.
