 The investigation into the disappearance of Nicola Sallese is currently an open, active cold case maintained under a "watching brief" by Tasmania Police. While a formal coronial inquest concluded that Mr Sallese most likely died on or around the day he vanished, police commanders maintain that missing persons cases in Tasmania remain open until answers are found and he or his vehicle is. Why can't we just have my dad here who is a... is a human being? He's obviously a father, he's a brother, he was a son, he's an uncle. 
He was a cousin. He was a friend. Why does he not matter enough to have a half a million dollar reward? 
versus somebody else's son, brother? uncle, cousin, friend? We are all one. 


You know, people bang on, just in general society, that we are all one, and, you know, stop the hate, stop this, stop that. It's across every sort of facet of life, unfortunately. And I just am really passionate, I guess, in that sense, that it doesn't matter who you are, whether you're a missing person, whether you're a Jehovah Witness, whether you're sexual orientation is that of homosexuality, doesn't matter. 
Whether you're two, whether you're 62, you matter. Every single person matters, so make it equal. They all matter."

Distinguishing Features - Crooked nose    

  In September 2021, the Tasmanian Coroner handed down his Record of Investigation Into Death (Without Inquest). It is just 12 points long and contains inaccuracies. The coroner noted that Steffen suffered from mental health issues and had been dealing with a Zen Buddhist practitioner with whom he had discussed suicide. The practitioner is believed to have been the last person to see him alive. The Coroner found no evidence of third-party involvement or foul play, concluding that his death likely occurred in Tasmania shortly after he went missing, though the exact location and cause of death could not be determined.
